Places to visit in Fairfield County

Happy Friday and Happy Birthday to me!!!!

happy bday to me

Continuing on my Friday theme of highlighting parts of the Bedford Street Marketing, LLC community, here are three great non-profit places to visit if you are in the Stamford/Norwalk area.

Fort Stamford Park

Located on 900 Westover Road, Fort Stamford was originally built in 1781 as a permanent fortification against the British during the Revolutionary War.  It’s now a public park listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

With stunning views of the Mianus River and Long Island Sound, visitors can see the remains of the Fort and immerse themselves in Stamford’s revolutionary era history. Stone markers commemorating the site, tress from the original building of the fort still remain and a visit to the Goodbody Garden are sure to make this a fun day for all.

Stamford Museum and Nature Center

The Stamford Museum & Nature Center, located in Stamford, Connecticut, is an art, history, nature, and agricultural sciences museum. The property covers 118 acres beginning about half a mile north of the Merritt Parkway. It was originally a private estate.

They always have great events like Sunday Farm Market, art exhibits, the Farmhouse Festival, and of course, the chance to interact with all the animals!!! Additionally, there are nature trails to hike and educational programs for the young and old!!!

The Stamford Museum and Nature Center is a great day trip for families of all sizes!!!!

Maritime Aquarium  Norwalk,CT

The Maritime Aquarium offers the opportunity to learn about the Long Island sound and all the wonders it has to offer. It inspires people of all ages to appreciate and protect the Long Island Sound ecosystem and the global environment through living exhibits, marine science, and environmental education.

They have 75 exhibits featuring 2,700 marine animals – sea otters, seals and much more. One of the best things I did was take their Marine Life Encounter cruise around the Sound. It was amazing to see all the various marine life we have in our own backyard. Other cruises they run include their Octoberfest Cruise. If you feel like taking in a movie, don’t miss their Imax movie theater!!!

That’s it for this week. Hope you all have a great weekend!!!
