The start of the Holiday Season…time for reflection

Happy Halloween!!! Hard to believe it’s already November tomorrow. In many ways, the holiday season starts on November 1st. Thanksgiving will be here before we know it and Christmas/Hanukkah right after that.

It’s the perfect time to start reflecting on 2018 and thinking about what your goals for 2019 will be – in life and business.  We’ve had high points and low points during the year, so it’s a great time to take stock and learn from our experiences.

As the year comes to a close, Bedford Street Marketing, LLC is still very much in it’s infancy stages. I started off like a house on fire in May and April, lost a bit of steam over the summer and picked up again in September and forward. I learned that the initial excitement is great and that energy is contagious – but it’s a long haul. Losing focus for a few months cost me valuable time in building brand recognition for the company – so that is a lesson I will take into 2019.

Additionally, learning the content on social media that gets attention – likes and follows – has been a valuable learning experience. 7 months after I initially started the brand image I want to cultivate is clear to me – but it took that time for it to properly develop. The feedback and positive feedback I’ve received on my posts are all the proof I need that I am on the right track.

I learned that I need to focus in on things like cold email blasts and more promotional efforts to get my message out to local business owners. In the last few months of 2018, I am going to start a steady email promotion schedule, as well as look into more traditional channels like Valpak. Again, it’s unfortunate I didn’t start earlier – but a valuable lesson learned.

Finally, I am grateful that I was brave enough to take that first step – even if I had a few missteps. It was a huge moment for me and one that I don’t regret.

Anyway, that’s the message tonight – take the time the holiday season allow to reflect on things and learn what you can from the missteps. There is always a new day, new year to improve and get closer to your dreams!!!
