Weekly Community Highlight – Feline Rescue Organizations

Happy Friday!!!! After my blog last Friday on the Arts and Crafts on Bedford event, I decided that one post per week would be reserved for shining a spotlight on my local community. It might be a call out for the best restaurants in the area or upcoming local events that should not be missed.

This week I decided to highlight two of my favorite non-profit organizations – Friends of Felines and Pitter Patter Feline Rescue, LLC. One of the things that is important is animal welfare – but cats hold a special place in my world. I mean, who wouldn’t want a feline marketing assistant like the one below:

Marketing Kitten

An amazing fact that I recently read was the an estimate 860,000 shelter cats (compared to 630,000 dogs) are euthanized every year and countless others are left behind when people move into places that don’t allow pets or a family member is allergic. Think about that for a moment – 870M cats are put to death due to owner neglect or the fact that they are not adopted.

Into this void step two amazing organizations located in Stamford, CT and they do a wonderful job of finding furever homes for the cats under their care. There is an adoption fee at both organizations, but this covers all the medical expenses, spaying/neutering, and most importantly makes sure the people taking these cats/kittens really will give these wonderful cats a safe home.

One last thing – this blogger will be turning a year older soon and I have started a fundraiser on Facebook for Pitter Patter. So, if you want to donate, you can click here.

Friends of Feline

When you visit their page, you are greeted with pictures of the cats and kittens available for adoption. They care for homeless and forgotten felines in the Fairfield County, CT area via trap-neuter-return, responsible for adoptions, and human education. They are a no-kills organization. Almost weekly they have a cat adoption event and offer services to help people find cats who may have gone missing.

Additionally, they offer volunteer opportunities to learn the trap-neuter-return process and many other ways to help with their efforts. And they are affiliated with the veterinary practice, Just Cats, LLC. If you are looking for the best vets in the area for your feline companion, I highly recommend Just Cats. Their staff is attentive and caring. I can tell you from experience they are the most compassionate and wonderful vets you can find.

Pitter Patter Feline Rescue

Pitter Patter Feline Rescue Inc. is an all-volunteer rescue organization serving lower Fairfield County CT.

Their goal is to reduce the feral cat population and find loving homes for the abandoned and adoptable kittens. We rely 100% on donations, with every dollar going directly to the care and support of the cats.

Our volunteers have a great amount of passion and dedication to the cats we rescue. Our mission for feral cats is the humane approach of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). Feral cats are spay/neutered, vaccinated and ear tipped. This benefits the cats and the community. Kittens are spay/neutered, vaccinated, tested for feline disease and provided any medical attention necessary. They are raised in loving volunteer foster homes until ready for adoption.

Pitter Patter is having an adoption event this Saturday, 9/22/18, from 12:30 – 2:30PM at Pet Valu on High Ridge Road. Definitely stop by if you can!!!!

That’s it for tonight, my friends. Hope you all have a great weekend!!!
